Did Ayushmann, Rashmika’s 'Thamma' Bite Into The ₹100 Crore Club?
After an energetic start at the box office, Thamma—Aditya Sarpotdar’s quirky vampire comedy starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna—has seen a notable dip in momentum as it enters its second week.
The film, produced by Maddock Films, had a strong six-day run, collecting an estimated ₹91.30 crore net across India. However, its Monday numbers brought a sharp slowdown, raising questions about whether it will manage to touch the coveted ₹100 crore mark within its opening week.
According to early estimates by Sacnilk, Thamma earned around ₹4.30 crore India net on its seventh day across all languages, bringing its total to ₹95.60 crore.
Despite falling short of the century milestone, the film’s first-week performance remains commendable for an experimental genre film that blends horror, humour, and social commentary.

The film opened on a promising note, earning ₹24 crore on its first day (₹23.75 crore in Hindi and ₹0.25 crore in Telugu). The momentum held for the next two days, with Wednesday bringing in ₹18.6 crore and Thursday ₹13 crore. However, after the mid-week drop, Thamma picked up again over the weekend—earning ₹10 crore on Friday, ₹13.10 crore on Saturday, and ₹12.60 crore on Sunday.
The sharp decline last week, where the collections fell by nearly 66% from Sunday, has been attributed to weekday fatigue and limited repeat audiences. Still, with ₹95.60 crore India net and ₹130.85 crore worldwide in seven days, the film continues to perform decently overall.
On October 27, Thamma recorded an average Hindi occupancy of 11.27%. The morning shows saw a low turnout of 6.88%, but the numbers picked up slightly through the day, with evening shows reaching 12.29% and night shows closing at 14.88%.
Among major circuits, Mumbai led with 14.25% occupancy, followed by Chennai at 14.75% and Ahmedabad at 14.25%. The film performed moderately in NCR (9.50%), Pune (13.25%), and Bengaluru (12%), while smaller markets like Bhopal and Chandigarh saw limited footfall.
Globally, Thamma continues to attract attention, collecting an estimated ₹130.85 crore worldwide in its first week. The India gross collection stands at ₹114.85 crore, while the overseas tally is ₹16 crore.

The film’s unique blend of dark humour, supernatural elements, and social satire has helped it stand out in a crowded festive season lineup. However, sustaining its pace beyond the first week will be crucial for it to cross the ₹100 crore mark comfortably and maintain profitability in the long run.
Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Thamma brings together a stellar cast including Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Paresh Rawal, and Varun Dhawan. The film’s story revolves around a middle-class man who encounters a vampire in an unexpected twist of fate, leading to a series of bizarre and comedic events.
Produced by Maddock Films, the film follows the studio’s trademark formula of blending unconventional storytelling with commercial appeal—something that has worked in the past for titles like Stree and Bhediya.
