Tovino Thomas's First Look As Jathin Ramdas In L2 Empuraan Out (Image-X/PrithviOfficial)
L2: Empuraan, the upcoming political drama of actor Mohanlal under the direction of Prithiviraj Sukumaran, is one of the most anticipated projects in the Malayalam film industry. As an exciting update on his birthday, the first look of Tovino Thomas’ role of the young Chief Minister of Kerala, Jathin Ramdas, was revealed today.
Jathin Ramdas, the character who made a guest appearance in Lucifer, will be seen in a full-length role in Empuraan. And this time, Tovino’s Jathin will be one of the main characters in the film, which will drive the audience to the deeper layers of the story.

While introducing Jathin to the world of L2 Empuraan, director Prithviraj wrote, “Power….is an illusion!” hinting at the character dynamic of Tovino in the story.

The poster introduces Tovino as Jathin Ramdas as it excudes the vibrance of the character. He stands with his back to the camera, with a massive portrait of PK Ramdas, played by Sachin Khedekar, prominently displayed on the wall, hinting at an intriguing narrative connection between the characters.
Followed by the blockbuster success of the 2019 film, Lucifer, L2: Empuraan was announced in October 2023. Exploring politics, crime, and power dynamics, the film was shot in about 20 foreign countries, including the UK, the US, and Russia. The production of the film was wrapped in December last year.

Previously, the makers shared the poster of Prithviraj’s look as Zayed Masood. He will be repising his role as the confidante of Mohanlal’s Khureshi Abraam. It is said that Prithviraj will have longer screen time in the sequel.
L2: Empuraan, the second installment of the planned trilogy, boasts a stellar cast with actors Mohanlal, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Shashi Kapoor, Indrajith, Baiju Santosh, Prithviraj, and Saniya Iyyappan. One of the most anticipated films, L2: Empuraan, is set to hit theatres on March 27, 2025.
