Toxic Social Media Review: Rocking Performances Praised, Slow Pace And Weak Climax Criticised
Since the blockbuster KGF franchise, rocking star Yash’s first release ‘Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups‘ hit the big screen on Tuesday, August 26. The movie, which projects Yash in the gangster drama genre again has been receiving both positive and negative feedback from the audience.
Toxic stars Yash in a dual role, with five female leads including Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth, and Huma Qureshi. As per the film reviewers, the movie, a ‘fairy tale for adults’ effectively captures Yash’s swag, but fails to elevate the movie’s overall impression.
According to a reviewer, Silly Mid-On, the first half of the movie starts with a solid Yash entry that delivers the expected mass elevation, followed by a few impressive fight episodes. He lauded the cinematography, production design and overall setup, appreciating the performance of actors.
However, the reviewer pointed out, a major issue was the excessive lag. “The first half feels repetitive, with an adult scene followed by a fight and similar sequences continuing throughout,” he opined, adding that the film failed to establish a strong emotional connection with the audience. The second half, according to him also fell behind the expectation, continuing on the same slow pace, with only a few action sequences providing some relief.

The core emotion never really works, and the last 40 minutes feel unintentionally comical because of the way the situations are written and presented. Despite some good performances, very little works in the film’s favour,” the movie observer pointed out, highlighting that Yash, Kiara Advani stood out as one of the best aspects of the movie, delivering a fantastic performance.
“However, the climax is one of the weakest and most unconvincing parts of the film. By then, the excessive runtime becomes extremely noticeable, making the overall experience feel unnecessarily stretched. Overall, Toxic has good action, performances and technical quality, but the weak emotional core, slow narration, lengthy runtime and disappointing climax severely affect the film,” Silly Mid-On observed on X, giving a final verdict that the movie was “very disappointing outing”
