Urvashi is a pride to Malayalam film industry. She is an actress, dubbing artist, television host, scriptwriter and film producer. she is one of the unmatchable talents of the industry. Her distinct acting skills made her famous in Tamil film industry also.
As the 54th Kerala State Film Awards was announced, Urvashi once again grabbed headlines. She won the Best Actress category once again. This is the 6th time the star won the state award for best actress. She also won the National Award from the best supporting actress, for her role in Achuvinte Amma. Urvashi won the State Award for Best Actress for three consecutive times from 1989 to 1991.
Urvashi started her acting career as a child artist, in a Malayalam movie Vidarunna Motthukal, which was released in 1977. She was a sensational star in the industry during late 1980s and 1990s. She won the prestigious awards for her films like Mazahvil Kavadi, Varthamanakalam, Thalayanamanthram, Kazhakam, Madhuchandralekha.
This year, she won the award for her role of Leelamma in Ullozhukku. The film was about the complex relationship between a daughter-in-law and her mother-in-law. But it goes beyond the typical ‘saas-bahu’ dynamics. Parvathy Thiruvoth starred as her daughter-in-law Anju.

54TH Kerala State Film Awards was announced today. Prithviraj Sukumaran won the Best Actor for Aadujeevitham while Urvashi and Beena R Chandran shared Best Actress. Mammootty’s ‘Kaathal – The Core’ was honoured as the Best Picture.
