Unni Mukundhan Rejects Producers' Association's Stance On Actor's Producing Film
The Malayalam film industry has been facing a rift between the Associations of the Actors (AMMA) and producers. Now, actor Unni Mukundan has expressed his disagreement against the producers’ association regarding their stance on actors producing their own film.
Unni Mukundan is basking in the success of his recent release, Get Set Baby. The versatile actor has also produced blockbuster films like Marco, Jai Ganesh, and other notable films in Malayalam.
In his recent conversation with the media, Unni Mukundan expressed his disagreement with the producer association and said that no one has the right to question his rights on spending his money on producing films.

He said, “I am an actor who turned producer with a wish to make good films, and I will create movies of my liking with my money.” He stated that imposing restrictions on actors producing films is unfair.
Further highlighting that there is no rulebook in the spectrum of producing film, Unni pointed out, “Making a movie is everybody’s right. The producers’ statement opposing that right is totally unreasonable. The film industry is a free space. Movies could be produced with a zero budget and with new actors—there is no specific route book.”
The actor also mentioned that he charged low fees for his films. “Moreover, I have been working only for my own production company during the last five years.” His remarks seem to be a response to the accusation by the producers association, which claims that the actors, even newcomers, were demanding higher fees than the producers could offer.
The producers association has also sent a letter to AMMA, requesting a reduction in fees.
