
Maa Vande: Unni Mukundan To Portray PM Narendra Modi In New Biopic
On the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday (September 17), Silver Cast Creations officially unveiled the title of its upcoming biographical drama, Maa Vande: The Anthem of a Mother.
The film will chronicle Modi’s extraordinary journey “from childhood to becoming the leader of the nation,” with a particular focus on his relationship with his late mother, Heeraben Modi, who is described by the makers as “an unparalleled source of inspiration throughout his journey.”

Malayalam star Unni Mukundan, fresh from the box office success of Marco, has been cast in the role of Modi. The announcement instantly drew attention across industries, as the actor is set to bring one of India’s most influential political figures to screen in what is being described as a “pan-India cinematic experience.”

Maa Vande will be helmed by director Kranthi Kumar CH, with some of India’s most accomplished technicians joining the project. Renowned cinematographer KK Senthil Kumar ISC (Baahubali fame) will handle the visuals, while acclaimed composer Ravi Basrur will score the film’s music.

National Award-winning editor Sreekar Prasad will oversee editing, and celebrated production designer Sabu Cyril is set to shape the film’s visual landscape.
Action sequences will be choreographed by King Solomon, promising grand cinematic moments. The project is further strengthened by executive producers Gangadhar NS and Vanisri B, line producer TVN Rajesh, and co-director Narasimha Rao M.
According to the makers, the film will be released in multiple languages, including English, to reach global audiences.
Born Unnikrishnan Mukundan on 22 September 1987 in Thrissur, Kerala, Unni Mukundan has emerged as one of Malayalam cinema’s most bankable stars.
After debuting in the Tamil film Seedan (2011) and gaining recognition with Bombay March 12, his breakthrough came with Mallu Singh (2012), a blockbuster that ran for over 100 days.
Since then, he has appeared in a mix of Malayalam, Telugu, and Tamil films, with standout performances in Vikramadithyan (2014), KL 10 Patthu (2015), Style (2016), and Achayans (2017).
His portrayal of Marco in Mikhael (2019) and its 2024 spin-off, Marco, cemented his image as a versatile performer. Marco went on to cross ₹100 crore, making his first film to achieve that milestone.
Unni has also made his mark outside Malayalam cinema with films like Janatha Garage (Telugu) and Garudan (Tamil). In addition to acting, he launched Unni Mukundan Films (UMF) in 2020, producing films such as Meppadiyan (which won him a National Award as producer), Shefeekkinte Santhosham, Jai Ganesh, and Marco.
