Renowned Indian actor Mithun Chakraborty was admitted to a hospital in Kolkata on Saturday morning after experiencing chest pain. According to sources close to the actor, he felt uneasy, prompting his immediate hospitalization. However, his family has reassured concerned fans, stating that it was merely a routine checkup.
Chakraborty”s elder son, Mimoh Chakraborty, conveyed to indianexpress.com, “He (Mithun Chakraborty) is 100 percent fine and it’s a routine checkup.”
In an official update, Apollo Hospitals Kolkata provided details of Chakraborty”s condition. The 73-year-old National Award-winning actor was brought to the Emergency Department of Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals with complaints of weakness in the right upper and lower limbs around 9:40 am. Subsequent laboratory and radiology investigations, including an MRI of the brain, revealed that he had suffered an Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident (Stroke).
Despite the diagnosis, according to the hospital, Chakraborty is reported to be fully conscious, well-oriented, and has been consuming a soft diet. A team of doctors, comprising a neuro-physician, cardiologist, and gastroenterologist, is currently evaluating his condition.
Mithun Chakraborty, the distinguished Indian actor known for his versatility and charisma on the silver screen, was conferred Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian honour, by the Government of India.
Born on June 16, 1950, in Kolkata, he rose to fame with his breakout role in the film “Mrigaya” (1976), earning him the National Film Award for Best Actor. With a career spanning over four decades, Chakraborty has showcased his talent in a wide range of genres, from action and drama to comedy and dance.
