As Leo released in theatres today, the first impressions unanimously says it is never before seen avatar of Vijay. Thalapathy, under the craftmanship of Lokesh Kanagaraj rebuilt himself for this gangster drama. Though the movie exceeded what vijay fans expected in the action-packed sequences, powerful punch dialogues, and drama – the reviewers says in Leo, Vijay the actor shines better than the star. Vijay discarded his superstar persona for playing Parthiban, an animal rescuer and cafe owner living with his wife (Trisha) and their two children in a scenic town of Himachal Pradesh.

Thalapathy fans celebrate the movie, they write “Thalapathy Vijay is in Peak form,” his “career best performance in terms of acting and action, “masterpiece by superstar vijay,” and “It”s not just a movie, it”s a celebration!”

However, there is opinion among reviewers that Mr Kanagaraj have not met expectations; a brilliant first half, followed by not-so-good second half, a problem seen in many movies is affected Leo as well. The rushed flashbacks felt flat, and action sequences sensed insubstantial in the second half. In twitter, along with the celebration of the movie, #LeoDisaster is also trending.

The movie”s premise is loosely based on A History of Violence (2005) and credits it in the title card. The movie”s unpredictability and unexpected surprises hold”s audience”s attention throughout. The action sequences where excelled by  stunt choreographer duo AnbAriv, which uplifted the tonality of the movie to a high notch. Similarly, the entralling background music set by Anirudh Ravichander also deserves credit. The visuals by Manoj Paramahamsa keeps the audience focused on every scene.

Reviewers, so far has no divided opinion on the excellent VFX works. The hyena sequence was lauded by everyone. Along with daring action sequences, the creativity of the VFX elevated the experience of the movie. The antagonists, Sanjay Dutt and Arjun Sarja delivers solid performances which in turn assisted Thalapathy”s heroic moments.

Leo, in short, is many things. Regardless of all praises and pitfalls, one an undoubtedly say that it is a Vijay”s film. Whether Parthiban and Leo Das are same? Is Leo an extension of LCU?  Watch the movie in nearest theatres.
