Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: Actor-Politician Thalapathy Vijay on Sunday, December 28, bided farewell to his 33-year-long cinema career. The Tamil superstar announced the end of his film career at the audio launch of his last movie, Jana Nayagan, set for release January 9, 2026. The event was held at Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur.

With a tearful face, the actor declared his exit from cinema after 33 years and 68 blockbusters to focus on politics, with the political party he founded — Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party — ahead of Tamil Nadu’s 2026 assembly elections.
