'Years Of Preparation': Jaafar Jackson On Becoming Uncle Michael Jackson For The Biopic
Years of search, years of training in voice and movement, the effort to present the king of pop, Michael Jackson, has finally found fruit as the much anticipated biopic hit the big screen on April 24. By The weekend, the movie has garnered $97 million from the North American box office, as per the industry estimates
Directed by Antoine Fuqua and distributed by Lionsgate, the movie chronicles the legendary artist’s rise from a child star to one of the world’s most famous pop icons. The film makers choose Jaafar Jackson, the popstar’s nephew to the leading role in his uncle’s biopic. After finding him suitable, the makers prepared him with years of training voice and movement to embody the King of Pop.

The behind the scenes efforts are huge, with Jaafar undergoing extensive training for over two years, studying footage and working with choreographers to replicate Michael’s movements. The actor reportedly spent time at the family’s Hayvenhurst home to get into character.
Notably, the film also marks the acting debut of the late singer’s nephew Jaafar Jackson, backed by the late singer’s family and close aides.
