How Lucknow’s Chhappan Bhog Created a Rs. 50,000 Mithai with 24-Karat Gold

A Lucknow mithai has made headlines with its extravagant price and unique flavors. Made up of the world’s best nuts and garnished with 24-karat gold, the mithai is priced at Rs. 50,000 and is named Exotica. It has become a status symbol of Lucknow Nawab, according to a report.

Chhappan Bhog in Lucknow made this delicacy in 2009 exclusively for a customer on order. However, with its exquisite taste and unique preparation, the mithai became the toast of the town and garnered many orders. As a result, Chhappan Bhog sells this gold-coated mithai in large numbers.

Exotica is prepared with imported nuts such as Kinnaur, Mamra almonds from Iran, pistachios from Afghanistan, macadamia from South Africa, hazelnut from Turkey, and saffron from Kashmir. Finally, each piece of the mithai is adorned with 24-carat gold.

The price of Exotica starts at Rs. 2,000 for four pieces and goes up to Rs. 50,000 for a box of 100 pieces. According to Chhappan Bhog owner Ravindra Kumar, people usually prefer larger boxes to gift during weddings and festivals. Three or four boxes with a price of Rs. 2,000 each sell every day. Each piece of this mithai is priced at Rs. 500 and weighs 10 grams.
