Indian Dairy Brand Amul Reduces Milk Prices By Rs 1 Per Litre

After experiencing extended period of price hikes, Indian diary brand Amul has reduced the price of milk by Rs 1 per litre across the country. The announcement was made by Jayen Mehta, the Managing Director of the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) on Friday.

The price cut will be applicable to the 1 Kg pack of the milk variants and the new price will be effective immediately, according to multiple reports. Consumers can buy Amul Gold, Amul Taaza, and Amul Tea Special at the revised rates. After the price cut, the cost of a one-litre pouch of Amul Gold milk will decrease from Rs 66 to Rs 65, and the price of Amul Tea Special milk will now be Rs 61 per litre, down from Rs 62.  Amul Taaza milk will be available at Rs 53 per litre, reduced from Rs 54.

Amul had increased the milk price by Rs 2 per litre in June 2024, and after which some other dairy brands had also raised milk price. Back then, Amul had attributed its price hike to the increase in the overall cost of operations and milk production. The company had also declared that Amul allocates nearly 80 paise of every rupee spent by consumers on milk and milk products as a policy.
