The Mother Dairy on Monday announced a price hike of Rs 2 per liter in milk prices in the Delhi-NCR market. This comes after Amul announced the increase in rates ahead of the Lok Sabha election on June 4.

The Mother Dairy has said that the price increase is to compensate the producers for increased production costs which have been rising for over one year.

The price hike announcement by the leading two milk suppliers has come just days after the completion of the Lok Sabha election process.

In the Delhi-NCR region, full cream milk will be available at the rate of Rs 68 per litre, while toned and double-toned milk will be available at Rs 56 and Rs 50 per litre.

While, the buffalo and cow milk have been increased to Rs 72 and Rs 58 per litre respectively. Token milk will be sold at Rs 54 per litre respectively.

Mother Dairy which currently has sold 35 lakh litre per day of fresh milk in Delhi-NCR said it has revised its liquid milk prices in February 2023.

“Despite paying higher prices towards milk procurement in the last few months, the consumer prices were kept intact. Moreover, the heat stress across the country has been unprecedented and it is likely to further impact milk production,” Mother Dairy said. The company also highlighted that it passes an average of around 75-80 percent of the sales realization from milk towards its procurement. This will help in ensuring the sustenance of dairy farming and the availability of quality milk.

Mother Dairy further stated that the surge in farm prices is only being partially passed on to the consumers with an effective revision of 3-4 percent thereby securing the interests of both the milk producers and the consumers.
