"Unsafe": Food Safety Regulator Orders Withdrawal Of Everest's Pre-Packed Cumin Powder From Market

New Delhi: The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on Sunday ordered Everest Food Products Pvt Ltd to withdraw its pre-packed cumin powder from the market.

The decision was taken after testing determined that the product was unsafe for consumption. The food safety regulator issued the order to recall the product manufactured by Everest Food Products.

Stating that it is continuing to enforce strict regulatory compliance to safeguard consumer health across the country, the food safety regulator body pointed out that after collecting a sample from a premises, an analysis found pesticide residue at a level exceeding the maximum limit. “The food analysist declared the sample unsafe under the Food Safety and Standard Act, 2006,” the FSSAI said.

In a social media post, the FSSAI wrote, “Product Recall Order: M/s Everest Food Products Private Limited has been directed to immediately recall “Pre-packed Cumin Powder” after tests declared the sample “UNSAFE”.
