Food Safety Officials Raid, Destroy Over 225 Kg Of Edibles Deemed Unfit For Consumption In UP's Sambhal

Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh: Food safety authorities in Uttar Pradesh raided three rasgulla factories in Sambhal’s Hazratnagar Gadi area on Wednesday, after allegedly receiving complaints about possible food safety violations.

The Uttar Pradesh Food Safety and Drug Administration (UPFSDA) officials reportedly destroyed over 225 kg of sweets deemed unfit for consumption. They have seized samples for lab testing as part of a statewide crackdown ahead of Holi and Ramadan.

The food safety team is also conducting raids targeting fake paneer in Noida, and seized goods in Saharanpur, and substandard oil in Hapur.  Several social media users called for strict accountability while sarcastically noting just being alive in India is a big achievement in itself.

 

the department has intensified its vigilance ahead of festival seasons when demand for sweets and dairy products surges, a senior UPFSDA official, adding that they cannot risk public health.

The official said that any  product that fails to meet safety standards is seized and destroyed, adding that further legal action will follow if samples’ test confirm violations under the Food Safety and Standards Act.
