21-Year-Old Pilgrim Dies After Electric Shock From Faulty Cooler At Vrindavan Temple

Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh: In a tragic incident in Uttar Pradesh, Vrindavan, a 21-year-old man from Madhya Pradesh‘s Chhatarpur district, was electrocuted to death after coming in contact with a faulty water spray cooler on Wednesday, June 17.

The incident happened from the cooler installed near the ISKCON Temple. The victim, identified as Abhigyan Gupta, visited the temple with his father for darshan when the accident took place.

The video of the incident shows the man standing near the device, possibly washing his hands when the short circuit struck him from the cooler. Though his father tried to pull his son away, he too got shocked.  Although bystanders rushed them to a hospital, Gupta was declared dead on arrival.

The only son to his parents, Gupta’s death has sparked outrage against the authorities for negligence. The victim’s family has accused authorities of negligence while demanding strict action against those responsible. Police  have launched an investigation, and officials are examining whether faulty maintenance or an electrical malfunction led to the tragedy.

Several users on X also blamed the temple authorities for the incident, raising serious concerns about public safety arrangements at crowded religious sites, especially during the pilgrimage season.
