A man died by electric shock at a flooded ATM in Chennai today. His body was found floating in the water and some people used a wooden pole to pull his body out.
The police said the man who has not been identified was likely electrocuted as they are investigating the incident.

Chennai has been experiencing heavy rain due to a cyclone storm called Fengal. The storm is expected to make landfall in the evening. The city’s airport has been closed temporarily due to the storm.
The India Meteorological Department has forecast heavy to very heavy rain in several districts of Tamil Nadu, including Chennai and Puducherry.

The state government has deployed disaster response teams including those from the National and State Disaster Response Forces in vulnerable districts such as Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Cuddalore and Chennai.
IMD has also forecasted heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in coastal and low-lying areas during the cyclone’s landfall, along with wind speeds of 70-90 kmph.

The district administration in Puducherry has urged residents to stay indoors and all schools and colleges are closed for the day.
Cyclone Fengal has already caused damage in Sri Lanka, killing at least 12 people including six children. Scientists have warned that storms are becoming more powerful due to climate change.

The heavy rain has caused waterlogging in several areas of Chennai. The police and emergency services are working to help people affected by the flood.
The government has advised people to stay indoors and avoid travelling unless necessary. The situation is being closely monitored and the government said that updates will be provided as necessary.
