A strange incident has been reported from Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh, where a 45-year-old man who was declared “dead” by the police close to five years ago was found alive in Delhi. The man named Yogendra Kumar, a native of Singhawali Ahir in Baghpat was located as a taxi driver in the national capital, Times of India reports. He was living with a woman and four children.
As per the police reports, in 2018, a criminal case was registered against Yogendra Kumar and his two brothers by Ved Prakash over a scuffle. Following, Yogendra Kumar went missing.
“Kumar was booked under IPC sections 325 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation), following which he went missing,” Times of India quotes as Jitendra Singh, Station House Officer (SHO) of Singhawali Ahir is saying.
SHO also added that Yogendra Kumar”s family suspected Ved Prakash of killing him and wanted to file police case. Subsequently, following a court order, in April of the previous year a First Information Report (FIR) was lodged against Ved Prakash and two others under sections 364 (kidnapping) and 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). However, even after eight months of investigation, Police failed to locate any reasonable evidence to prove that Yogendra Kumar was dead.
Baghpat police said on Sunday that they were able to track down Yogendra Kumar”s location to Delhi when he had reached a court to secure the pending bail. “He was working as a taxi driver and retained his identity. He had married another woman with whom he has four children,” SHO said and TOI reports.
SHO told TOI that while questioning Yogendra Kumar told about his rivalry with Ved Prakash and about his extra-marital affair with a woman in Delhi”s Rohini. He then added that when he was booked in 2018, he left home and began living with the woman in Delhi; whereas, his family back in Baghpat thought that he had been kidnapped and killed.
Meanwhile, about the incident, Rita, Kumar”s wife in Baghpat said: “He neither visited us since 2018 nor he spoke to any one of us. We always wanted the police to get to the truth”, TOI reports.
