Another BLO Dies Duo To SIR Work Pressure In Uttar Pradesh: Report
Another booth-level officer (BLO) has died in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras district allegedly due to work pressure linked to the controversial Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The incident has taken the death toll to five in less than a week in the state alone.
The victim, 40-year-old Kamlakant Sharma, a resident of the Brahmanpuri area lost his life on Tuesday morning after he collapsed at his residence. He was serving as an assistant teacher at the Composite School, Navli Lalpur, while also handling duties as a BLO, The New Indian Express reported.

Family members claim that Sharma suddenly felt dizzy while drinking tea after coming down from the upper floor of his house and then collapsed. Though he was rushed to hospital for treatment, he died on the way and was declared dead on arrival. His body has been sent for post-mortem.
The victim’s son, Vinayak, said that his father had been distressed for several days due to the workload linked to BLO duties.
