Ayodhya Ram Mandir Donation Row: SIT Submits Preliminary Report

The investigation into the alleged misappropriation of donations at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya has moved forward, with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) submitting its preliminary report to the Uttar Pradesh government.

The report was handed over to the state’s Additional Chief Secretary (Home) by the three-member SIT headed by Lucknow Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant.

Officials have described the document as an initial assessment, with the final report expected within the next few weeks.

The SIT was constituted by the Uttar Pradesh government earlier this month after concerns were raised over the handling of cash donations and valuables offered by devotees at the temple.

According to officials familiar with the investigation, the preliminary findings have focused on individuals involved in collecting, counting and depositing donations.

The inquiry has also examined the functioning of certain staff members associated with the temple’s day-to-day administration.

While the investigation is still underway, sources indicated that the report has not directly implicated the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, which manages the temple’s affairs.

However, questions have reportedly been raised about the responsibilities and oversight exercised by some personnel connected to donation management.

The controversy began after allegations surfaced claiming that cash and valuables offered by devotees at the Ram Mandir were not being properly accounted for. The claims triggered political debate and demands for an independent investigation.

The temple trust has consistently denied any wrongdoing and maintained that donations are handled through established procedures that include counting, verification and deposit through banking channels.

The issue gained further attention after opposition leaders questioned the management of donations and sought greater transparency in the process.
