On the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids at the residence of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, the party national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday reacted that the raids are just desperate attempts of BJP, who are certain of their defeat in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

A search operation is currently in progress at the residence of the AAP leader as part of an investigation on a money laundering case associated with the Delhi liquor policy.

“As elections near, all agencies like ED, CBI… will get active”, said the Delhi CM to media. He accused the government as they always initiate various investigations citing scams all the time, but are unable to trace any evidences. “Nothing will be found at Sanjay Singh”s place also”, he added. BJP workers in the meantime held a protest outside the Delhi AAP office demanding the arrest of Mr Kejriwal.

AAP national spokesperson Reena Gupta while addressing the media slammed the government as Sanjay Singh faces an ED raid since he spoke on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his reported connection with business conglomerate Gautam Adani.

Another AAP leader Malvinder Singh Kang blamed the central government ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party as they are continuously racing behind the AAP workers to take revenge and torture them. He also accused that the measures taken by BJP using the central agencies are completely part of a “”political vendetta””.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Manoj Jha responded the raids as they are not surprising as he expects the series of raids to continue till the 2024 elections. “Yesterday, a raid was on NewsClick and all the journalists, today on Sanjay Singh”, Mr Jha told to the news agency ANI.

According to Saurabh Bharadwaj, an AAP leader, the ED will remain empty-handed even after doing raids for fifteen months over thousand locations. All are is a “”desperate effort by the BJP government to ensure they come to power again””, he said to ANI.

AAP workers who held a protest in Uttar Pradesh”s Lucknow against the ED raids at Sanjay Singh”s residence were detained by the state police.
