Rajamahendravaram, Andhra Pradesh: The death toll has reached 16 in a suspected adulterated milk incident in Rajamahendravaram in Andhra Pradesh. Many are undergoing treatment for acute kidney failure after consuming the contaminated milk.

As per the officials, at least 20 people fell ill after consuming milk supplied by a local vendor. 16 of them died over the past few weeks after suffering organ failures.

The incident took place in February after a cluster of patients from Lalacheruvu, including Chowdeshwarinagar and Swaroopanagar, were admitted to hospitals with symptoms such as vomiting, abdominal pain, anuria and acute renal dysfunction.

The illness led to mass fatalities, while some remained under treatment. The victims’ medical examination found significant increases in blood urea and serum creatinine levels, indicating acute renal failure consistent with toxic exposure, as per reports.
