In a special drive against drunk driving conducted in Delhi from December 16 to December 31, the traffic police officials in the national capital cited on Monday that they took action against a total of 2129 people in the last 15 days of the previous year.
On December 31, as per the official statement, Delhi Traffic police claims that a total of 360 cases of drunk driving were reported and highest number of cases were recorded from Kapashera, Sangam Vihar, Tilak Nagar, Nangloi, and Nand Nagri Circle. And till the morning of January 1, around 495 cases were reported.
The official release stated that a total of 186 cases of drunk driving were observed on December 24, and of which Aman Vihar, Ashok Vihar, Badarpur, Barakhamba Road, Chanakyapuri, Civil Lines, Delhi Cantt, Defence Colony, Daryaganj and Dwarka Circle reported the highest number of cases.
Following on Christmas day, December 25, 111 cases were reported and most of them are from Aman Vihar, Ashok Vihar, Badarpur, Barakhamba Road, Bhajanpura, Civil Lines, Delhi Cantt, Defence Colony, Daryaganj and Dwarka Circle.
On December 26, a total of 110 cases of drunk driving were reported and highest number of cases were lodged from Lajpat Nagar, Badarpur, Kalkaji, Narela, and Sangam Vihar circles.
Similarly, on December 27, 114 cases were recorded and majority of cases registered in in Madhu Vihar, Badarpur, Lajpat Nagar, Sarita Vihar, and Sansad Circle.
Around 114 cases of drunk driving were reported on December 28, and most of them are from Lajpat Nagar, Kalkaji, Sangam Vihar, Vasant Kunj, and Badarpur circles.
A total of 130 incidents of drunk driving were located on December 29, and majority of the cases are from Dwarka, Sangam Vihar, Lajpat Nagar, Paschim Vihar, and Sansad Circle.
On December 30, 189 cases of drunk driving were recorded and most of the cases were located from Badarpur, Lajpat Nagar, Sangam Vihar, Sarita Vihar, and Kalkaji Circle, the official release added.
In total, 16173 drunk driving cases were reported this year until December 31, 2023, whereas the release added that 2225 cases were registered in 2022, 2831 in 2021, and 3986 in 2020.
