Due to the prevailing cold wave in the National capital, the Delhi government in a previous order released on Saturday had extended the winter break till January 10 in the government-aided and unaided recognised private schools. The Indian Meteorological Department has also issued a “yellow alert” in Delhi.
The order was later withdrawn and Atishi”s announcement came this morning. The revised order stated, “Order No.DE.23(3)/Sch.Br./2024/18 dated: January 6, 2024, regarding the extension of Winter Vacation stands withdrawn with immediate effect. Further instructions on this matter may be issued in due course,” as reported by ANI.
According to the Meteorological Department, cold to severe cold conditions are likely to continue over Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan and a significant decrease thereafter.
On Saturday, Delhi spent yet another day in grey, foggy conditions. The daytime peak temperatures reached 15.2 degree Celsius and the early hours witnessed 8.9 degree Celsius.
