
Dharmendra Pradhan Slams DMK MPs In Parliament; MK Stalin Hits Back (image:facebook.com/MKStalin)
Chennai, Tamil Nadu: Amid NEP 2020 row, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin on Monday (March 10) heavily criticised Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for his remarks targeting Tamil Nadu MPs in the Lok Sabha.
In a social media post, he accused Pradhan as an ‘arrogant king’ who disrespected the people of Tamil Nadu and ‘need to be disciplined’. Stalin also wanted to know whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi has allowed such statements insulting the people of Tamil Nadu.

Chief Minister in his post claimed that Union Minister have been deceiving the State by withholding funds and called the Tamil Nadu MPs are “uncivilized”. Continuing further, he shared a letter from Pradhan which stated that the Tamil government had rejected the MoU for the PM Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) scheme due to opposition to the National Education Policy (NEP) and the three-language policy.

Addressing Education Minister directly, Stalin said: “We act only by respecting the thoughts of the people! Not by being bound by the words of Nagpur like you!!” The reference of Nagpur in Chief Minister’s claim alluded to RSS headquarters.
The CM then stressed, “We are not willing to implement your plan, and no one can force us to do so.”
He further asks: “Just answer whether or not it is possible to release the funds for Tamil Nadu students from the taxes collected from us!”
Earlier in the day, the Lok Sabha witnessed uproar when Pradhan launched a scathing remark questioning the democratic and civil nature of Tamil Nadu MPs, drawing strong reactions from opposition members.

While replying a question concerning the PM SHRI scheme, he attacked Stalin-led DMK government over the issue of its implementation in the State. He accused the DMK of being dishonest and indifferent to the welfare of students in Tamil Nadu.
Pradhan’s remarks led to protests by DMK MPs and a 30-minute adjournment of parliamentary proceedings. He later withdrew his remarks in the Parliament.
