
Fact-Check Claim Of Tamil Nadu Govt Introducing Hindi Ban Bill As Fake News
In response to the reports of the Tamil Nadu government introducing a bill to ban Hindi language in hoardings, songs, movies, and other areas, the TN government’s official fact-check account has denied the news and called it a rumor. The government has clarified that no bill to ban Hindi is planned to be introduced in the legislative assembly.
Notably, India today, yesterday ran a breaking news with a headline “Stalin govt declares war on Hindi?” The fact-check, while calling it fake news, has denied any such claims. Also, the Secretary of the Legislative Assembly has clarified that no such proposal was received to be considered in the assembly.

Nonetheless, a controversy has erupted between the central government and the Tamil Nadu government from time to time with regard to the enforcement of Hindi language in the state. The state government has alleged Centre to pushing the Hindi language forcefully, by opting as a third language under the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The Tamil Nadu government has emphasised on preservation of the mother tongue; however never pushed back the use of the Hindi language in the state. The clashes over the third language row have caused a war of words between TN CM M K Stalin and Dharmendra Pradhan, the Union Education Minister.
Also, a state government can not change the official language as it breaches the fundamental right of the people and can draw judicial scrutiny.
