Following allegations regarding phone tapping of the opposition leaders during the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) regime in Telangana, the former Minister and BRS chief K T Rama Rao (KTR) today asked the Congress leaders, who complained against BRS president accusing him of tapping phones, to “apologise for the allegations or face legal consequences.”
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the BRS leader wrote, “Both these Congress fellows (including the minister) will be served legal notices for defamation & slander.”
Sharing the news regarding the phone tapping allegations and complaints by Congress leaders, KTR further wrote that he will be serving legal notices to news outlets “who are dishing out this garbage without verifying the facts.”

The report said that KTR ordered to tap the phones of the opposition leaders. Congress leader K. Mahendra Reddy, accompanied by Mahbubnagar MLA Yennam Srinivas Reddy filed a complaint to city police commissioner Kothakota Sreenivasa Reddy. They alleged that their phones were tapped during the assembly election, as per the reports.
According to the report, the complaint demanded the police take strict action against K.T. Rama Rao, noting that KTR was responsible for threatening the complainant and other local leaders who were ready to join the Congress.
Citing Mahender Reddy, the report claimed that KTR convened a meeting with Sircilla district BRS corporators and local leaders and warned them that they were being watched and that if they joined hands with the Congress or other parties they would face consequences.
KTR also shared another report claiming that Minister Konda Surekha alleged that KTR had threatened film actresses and engaged in taping phones.
However, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, led by former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has come under increasing pressure on the phone tapping controversy after the arrest of three senior police officers and the lookout notice against the former chief of the state intelligence bureau.
The phone tapping allegations have been dismissed by the BRS president saying that the complainant including the minister will face legal consequences.
