Sakti, Chhattisgarh: At least 10 people have been killed and 40 injured in a boiler explosion at Vedanta Power Plant in Chhattisgarh’s Sakti district in Singhitari village on Tuesday afternoon, April 14.

The explosion triggered panic in the area and led to a stampede-like situation as workers rushed to escape to safer places, leaving many workers seriously injured. Many of the injured workers are in critical condition, who have been admitted to nearby hospitals.

Emergency response teams and local administration officials rushed to the spot and carried out the rescue operations. The exact reason for the explosion is not known, and a probe is underway.

As per the preliminary details, the explosion occurred  in a boiler tube in the power plant. Sakti district SP Praful Thakur said that nine people died and 15 injured in the boiler blast, India TV reported.

All the workers were inside the plant and were working at the time of the explosion, creating panic.
