Telugu Desam Party (TDP) General Secretary and minister Lokesh Nara has taken to X, looking back on the “large-heartedness and graciousness” of Dr. Singh towards his family when they were going through a difficult time back in 2004. “The year 2004 was a particularly difficult time for us. Our leader, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu, had recently recovered from an attempt on his life after a dangerous bomb blast by naxals near Tirupati, and the @jaiTDP party had just lost the 2004 elections,” Lokesh Nara wrote, highlighting that the new state government had moved to reduce security cover to former chief minister Naidu, possibly preventing him from being with the people and representing their issues.
At this crucial time, Mr. Nara says, the TDP chief met then Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to request him personally to restore his security cover, citing the attack on his life and the potential threats, which were ascertained by security agencies. “Regardless of the fact that we were from an opposition party, Dr. Manmohan Singh immediately said that Mr. Naidu is important to the nation, and against the wishes of the then state government, gave instructions to restore full security (led by NSG commandos),” wrote Lokesh Nara

You will be missed,” Lokesh Nara concluded his write-up on X.
