Sonia Gandhi, Chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party, has officially informed the Lok Sabha Speaker about new appointments within the Congress Party. Assam leader Gaurav Gogoi has been named the Deputy Leader, while eight-time party MP Kodikunnil Suresh will serve as the Chief Whip. Gogoi represents  Jorhat Lok Sabha constituency while Suresh is an MP from Mavelikara, Kerala.

Additionally, Virudhunagar MP Manickam Tagore and Kishanganj MP Dr. Md Jawaid have been appointed as Whips.

Grateful to be appointed again as a Whip for the Congress Party in the Lok Sabha.

The appointments, as per a statement from Congress general secretary in charge of organisational affairs KC Venugopal, is guided by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, aim to strengthen the efforts of the Congress and INDIA parties in vigorously championing the people’s causes in the Lok Sabha.

I am immensely grateful to our leaders CPP chairperson madam Sonia Gandhi ji and LOP @RahulGandhi ji for appointing me as Whip of CPP!
