According to police, Anshul was driving Mehak from her parents’ home in Hansi to Gurugram on Sunday evening when the incident took place near a village close to Badli in Jhajjar district.
Police received a Dial 112 call from Anshul claiming that unidentified men had stopped their car, attacked them and killed his wife during a robbery. Mehak’s body was later found near a canal.
However, investigators found inconsistencies in his statement.

During sustained interrogation, police said Anshul confessed to planning the murder. He allegedly brought a pair of scissors with him, strangled Mehak inside the car and then slit her throat.
Police described the crime as premeditated. Suspicion over his wife’s character is being examined as a possible motive. Officers said he objected to her frequent phone conversations with colleagues.
An FIR has been registered based on a complaint filed by Mehak’s family. The accused will be produced in court and taken on police remand for further questioning.
