'He Should Lose The Election': AK Antony About His Son Anil Antony And His Candidacy

Congress leader and former Kerala Chief Minister AK Antony today said that his son Anil K Antony should lose in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Anil Antony left the Congress party and joined the BJP in 2023. He was also given a Lok Sabha ticket by the saffron party from Kerala”s Pathanamthitta constituency.

However, commenting on his son’s election debut on the BJP ticket, the Congress veteran stated that the BJP should lose and Congress should win in Pathanamthitta. Congress candidate from Pathanamthitta Anto Antony will win the election, the former Chief Minister said. The Congress leader also termed the act of children of Congress leaders joining the BJP as “wrong.”

“Congress is my religion,” Mr Antony said as he replied to questions regarding his son”s decision to join the saffron party in the press conference held today.

Reacting to the demands of joining the election campaigns against Anil Antony, the Congress leader said that his son would lose the election even if he did not participate in the campaign against him. He then said he did not leave even Thiruvananthapuram for long, suggesting his age- health ailments.

Anil Antony joined the BJP in 2023 after he faced criticism following his critical tweets against the grand old party”s views. BJP had appointed him as the party”s national spokesperson soon after he joined the party. He had served as the head of the Kerala Congress digital media cell.

The Congress leader then elaborated that the objective of the upcoming general election should be the end of the BJP government at the centre, noting that the current dispensation is eroding the “concept of India.” We should be able to retain the values and principles enshrined in the constitution after taking back the power, he said.

He further warned that if the Narendra-Modi-led government comes to power again, the constitutional values would be sabotaged.
