Days after Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled the country following violent student uprising, multiple reports concerning the situation of the country are coming over. Recently, renowned actor Adil Hussain conveyed that the current situation in Bangladesh is appalling and asked the perpetrators to stand down.

Taking to X, the Assam-born actor wrote: “Heart Wrenching visuals from Bangladesh. The Attacks and Atrocities on Minority communities and on others in Bangladesh are Shocking! India must do more to Protect them. I stand with the Pains and Sufferings of the Victims. And I urge the Perpetrators to Stand Down. They should hang their Heads In Shame for their Actions. All Political leaders, specifically Muslim Leaders of India Must, Must call out these Perpetrators.”

Protests spanning over a month has plunged the country into political turmoil claiming over 300 lives, culminated in the military seizing control of the government and announcing the formation of an interim administration. Earlier on Tuesday, key organisers of Bangladesh’s student protests have stated that Nobel Peace Prize laureate Muhammad Yunus should be the head of an interim government and today, the latter agreed to run the administration as its chief advisor.

On Tuesday, President Mohammed Shahabuddin dissolved the 12th Parliament, paving the way for a fresh election in the country. The government was formed through the January 7 national election, and assured that fresh elections will be held in the country as soon as possible.

More than thousands of protestors attacked Sheikh Hasina’s official residence and other buildings associated with her party and family. Later on Monday, she landed at the Hindon Air Force station near Delhi. She was received by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. As per reports, she has requested asylum from the UK and her sister Rehana is accompanying her.

Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar convened an all-party meeting wherein he said that government is monitoring the evolving situation in Bangladesh and has given Sheikh Hasina time to decide the future course of action.
