Hotel Threatens Legal Action For Payment Due Of Over Rs 80 Lakhs For PM Modi’s Stay At Mysuru

The hotel where Prime Minister Narendra Modi stayed during his inauguration of 50 years of Project Tiger event in April 2023 has come up threatening legal actions for non-settlement of the bill. The bill amounts to Rs 80.6 Lakh, reports The Hindu.

The Prime minister visited Mysuru to inaugurate the event which was organized by the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF).

The event was conducted from April 9 to 11 at a cost of Rs 3 crore and has assured 100% assistance from the Centre. However, since it took place on short notice, as per the direction of the senior officers from MoEF and NTCA, the cost went up to Rs 6.33 crore.

Though Rs 3 crore has been released by the centre, the remaining amount is yet to be paid. The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) of Karnataka wrote to the Deputy Inspector-General, NTCA, New Delhi, on September 29, 2023, reminding him of the dues.

The State government has clarified that since the event is a Central government programme, the expenses have to be paid by them.

However, the NTCA wrote back that the expenses of the Prime minister’s stay at Radisson Blu Plaza in Mysuru were to be paid by the state government. Even the hotel general manager, Finance, of Radisson Blu Plaza, too wrote to the Deputy Conservator of Forests Basavaraju on May 21, 2024, reminding the non-payment of the hotel bills even after 12 months after utilizing the services.

The letter also included that after subsequent reminders and follow-ups, the bills have remained unpaid, and thus delayed payment interest of 18% per annum would be applicable to the outstanding dues and this additional sum of ₹12.09 lakh will be added.

Further, the hotel has threatened legal action if the payment is further delayed. They have requested to settle the amount by June 1, 2024.
