Hours Before Their Weddings, Two Sisters In Jodhpur Die By Alleged Suicide In Rajasthan

Two sisters allegedly died by suicide just hours before their weddings in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur district on Saturday.

The sisters, identified as 25-year-old Shobha and 23-year-old Vimla, were residents of Manai village and were scheduled to get married the same day.

According to the reports, wedding preparations were in full swing at their home on Friday night. Family members and relatives had gathered, and the house was filled with celebrations ahead of the ceremonies.

As per the reports, after the festivities continued until late at night, both sisters went to sleep around midnight. However, at approximately 4 am, their health suddenly deteriorated.

Family members immediately rushed them to a private hospital in Jodhpur for treatment. Doctors at the hospital declared both women dead on arrival.

ADCP (West) Roshan Meena stated that preliminary findings suggest the sisters may have consumed a poisonous substance. However, authorities have clarified that the exact cause of death will only be confirmed after the post-mortem examination report is completed.

Upon receiving information about the deaths, police personnel reached the village and halted the funeral preparations that had begun at the family’s residence.

The bodies were shifted to the mortuary for post-mortem and were later handed back to the family.

So far, no suicide note has been recovered from the scene. Police officials said they are investigating all possible angles to understand the circumstances that led to the incident.
