How Maharashtra Man's Contract To Kill Friend Backfired And Led To His Own Death

In a bizarre incident in Maharashtra, a contract to kill a friend ended with the death of the man who had ordered the hit. The shocking double murder unfolded in Raigad, where the bodies of two property dealers were discovered after they went missing on August 21, India Today reported.

Sumit Jain, a property dealer from Navi Mumbai, had hired contract killers to murder his friend Amir Khanzada over a land dispute. Jain’s plot to kill Khanzada was executed successfully, but it backfired dramatically when the killers, unhappy with the payment arrangement, turned on Jain and killed him as well. The killers had demanded the full payment of Rs 50 lakh.

Khanzada and Jain, both residents of Nerul, left for a business meeting on August 21 and were reported missing the following day. Their families filed a missing persons report, which prompted a police investigation. Tracing the GPS of their vehicle, the police tracked it to Khopoli, where they discovered bloodstains, bullet marks, and empty cartridges. While Jain’s body was found by the roadside on Pen-Khopoli Road on August 23, Khanzada’s body was recovered near Karnala Bird Sanctuary on August 28.

The police investigation revealed that Jain had acquired a 3.5-acre plot in Pali, Raigad, worth approximately Rs 2 crore using a fake identity as the real owner had died. Khanzada, who knew about Jain’s fraud, demanded a share of the deal. Jain then decided to eliminate him.

Jain’s plan included staging a kidnapping attempt to cover up his involvement. However, unhappy with the payment situation and suspecting foul play, the killers stabbed Jain in the leg where he had shot himself to fake his kidnapping. Jain died from excessive bleeding soon after and his body was disposed of, the report added.

The police have arrested five suspects: Vithal Baban Nakade (43), Jaisingh alias Raja Madhu Mudaliar (38), Anand alias Andrey Rajan Kuj (39), Virendra alias Go-ya Bharat Kadam (24), and Ankush alias Ankya Prakash Sitapure alias Sitafe (35). All five have multiple criminal cases registered against them, including murder and cheating.
