For the last couple of days, the central government and BJP governments across India have been promoting the theme of 23 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in office through social media and popular media advertisements. The promotion, which is trending on X as ‘23 years of Seva,’ includes the 13 years Modi spent as the Chief Minister of Gujarat. This promotional campaign, coinciding with the Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir election results, is significant as the Modi-led central government faces strong backlash from the Opposition and critics over issues such as unemployment and the economic crisis.
On social media, not only BJP leaders, ministers, party workers, and alliance partners but also influencers have been actively involved in the promotional activities, as ensured by the government.
As part of the PR efforts, Pawan Kalyan, leader of the Janasena Party and the Deputy Chief Minister in the NDA alliance government in Andhra Pradesh, wrote this:
“On this day, 23 years ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji took oath as the Chief Minister of Gujarat. What began as a series of innovative initiatives back then has now grown into policies that are shaping the lives of millions across Bharath. Under his leadership, the country has risen to global stature and is now nearing the milestone of becoming the third-largest economy in the world. His decades of public service demonstrate his unwavering commitment to the nation, where nothing is held above the duty of serving its people. Modi ji’s deep understanding of India’s diversity and his ability to connect with people have helped address complex issues and bring about transformative solutions. His leadership has played a key role in advancing the nation and improving countless lives. On this occasion, I offer my sincere congratulations to Modi ji for his 23 years of dedicated service. With the strong foundation he has laid, I’m certain that by 2047, we will see a developed India, fulfilling the dream of a ‘Viksit Bharat.’”
The message and the tone are similar in most social media posts across various platforms. The promotion team has also ensured that the news of PM Modi’s 23 years in office has made it to the front page of many print dailies, including Hindustan Times.
As part of the event, the Gujarat Assembly has announced the celebration of Development Week from October 7 until October 15 across the state. State Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, along with cabinet ministers, kicked off the celebrations in the state on October 8.
