As JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna and MLA HD Revanna dominate headlines following the sex abuse allegations, JD(S) leader and former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy today said that he does not take the shield of Vokkaliga tag in “this dirty Prajwal Revanna case.” He also said that the case to the obscene videos is not a small and that the culprit should be dealt with properly even if he is powerful.
Prominent Vokkaliga leaders of the Karnataka Congress party on Wednesday alleged that the H.D. Kumaraswamy and BJP leaders are trying to cover up the alleged sexual abuse case.
Leaders from the Congress party including ministers had said that Kumaraswamy and BJP tried to divert public attention from delivering justice to victims of the sexual abuse. They had also demanded the JD(S) leaders cooperate with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in the case to examine the alleged role of the BJP”s ally in the distribution of pen drives containing case- videos.
Reacting to the allegations, the JD(S) leader said it was becoming necessary for him to call a press meeting at this time every day due to issues which govt and officials are doing in the Prajwal and HD Revanna case. “They”re (Congress) saying I released pen drive, I asked not to field Prajwal Revanna from Hassan…I don”t take the shield of Vokkaliga tag in this dirty Prajwal Revanna case. I never said I”m a Vokkaliga leader…Many are saying it”s a fight between DK Shivakumar and me for Vokkaliga leadership,” the former chief minister was heard saying in a press meet.
Kumaraswamy further said that he would answer to DK Shivakumar”s allegations that the former chief minister was behind the release of the pen drives involving the alleged videos.
However, Kumaraswamy on May 7 alleged that the key conspirator in the distribution of the pendrive was DK Shivakumar and that the Special Investigation Team set up by the Karnataka government was working for the chief minister and deputy chief minister.
Notably, the arrested JD(U) leader and father of Prajwal Revanna, H.D. Ravenna was sent to judicial custody today in the sexual scandal case.
