A M.Sc second year student of IIT Delhi allegedly died by suicide, found inside his hostel room on late Tuesday. The student underwent psychiatric treatment at the campus hospital earlier in the day, said the Delhi Police.
As per the reports, the police received the PCR call regarding the alleged suicide of the student, Kumar Yash from Jharkhand at about 11pm. The police also said that the student’s room was closed from inside but his friend and IIT staff broke the windows to enter the room. The deceased was found hanging using two towels. His friend and the institute’s staff cut the towels and brought him down.
He was taken to IIT Hospital where he was declared dead by the doctor on duty. Then he was taken to the Safdarjung Hospital by IIT’s ambulance where he was declared ‘brought dead’.

The students body has been preserved in the mortuary, and his family members have been informed. The police crime team has also inspected the student’s hostel room.
Police also informed that no suicide note was found inside the student’s room. As per the deceased medical report card it is found that he was under psychiatric treatment. The student also visited the IIT hospital during the daytime on October 22, where he was treated and also fixed his appointment with a psychiatrist on October 29.

In February this year, a final-year MTech student was found dead in his hostel room. His parents suspected foul play and alleged his guide, co-guide, and a PhD student were responsible for his death and demanded the institute take necessary action.
