India's First Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Launch Soon: Rs 2,300 For 3rd AC With Meals

New Delhi: Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday, introduced India’s first Vande Bharat sleeper train. Prime Minister is all set to flag off the train on the Guwahati to Kolkata route. The launch is expected within the next 15-20 days. The exact launch date will be announced soon.

The testing and certification of the the train have now been fully completed. Notably, the fare for 3rd AC is expected to be around Rs 2,300, 2nd AC about Rs 3,000, and 1st AC roughly Rs 3,600, including meals.

The fares have been fixed keeping them substantially lower than air travel. While the Guwahati–Howrah air travel costs around Rs 6,000–8,000, Vande Bharat 3rd AC fare will be around Rs 2,300 including food, 2nd AC around Rs 3,000, and 1st AC around Rs 3,600.

The railway minister stated the Vande Bharat Sleeper has been built with advanced safety systems, improved suspension, energy-efficient traction, and a more aerodynamic design.

Several other passenger facilities will be added to the train making the long-distance travel more comfortable. The 16-coach sleeper configuration has been built with modern passenger amenities such as comfortable berths, advanced suspension, automatic doors, improved toilets, fire detection systems, CCTV surveillance, digital passenger displays and energy-efficient equipment.
