Kathmandu, Nepal: Amid the unrest in the ongoing protests in Nepal forcing the country’s head to resign and flee, at least ten prisoners escaped from jails in the neighboring country who tried to enter India on Tuesday. The undertrials, including two from Bihar, were arrested by Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel at the state border during their attempt to enter India.

The SSB handed them over to Bittha More and Sursand police stations of Sitamarhi district in Bihar. SHO of Bittha police station, Manoj Kumar, said that seven inmates who escaped from prison, including one, Mohan Kumar from Hajipur in Bihar’s Vaishali, have been put in jail. At least three prisoners, including one, Guddu Kumar, of Motihari district, have been detained till further orders, Hindustan Times reported citing sources.

So far, at least 19 people have been killed and hundreds injured after security forces in Nepal opened fire at protesters. Protests rocked the mountainous country after the government imposed a ban on social media platforms, and due to corruption allegations against the ruling. Demonstrators stormed several government institutions, including the Parliament building and the Office of the President, forcing leaders to flee.

However, the Nepal Army has now taken control of the country, imposing nationwide restrictive orders from morning till 5pm, followed by a curfew until 6am on Thursday to return to normalcy.
