Kangana Ranaut Wants Farms Laws Return, BJP Disapproves

Actress and BJP’s Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut caused further embarrassment for BJP on Tuesday in which she demanded a reintroduction of controversial farm laws. As the video started getting traction online, many Opposition parties including Congress ripped into BJP using the comments by Kangana Ranaut who had earlier put the party in trouble earlier in which the actress-politician called farmers who protested against the repealed laws rapists and terrorists.

But, by Tuesday evening BJP has distanced itself from the comments by the MP and said she is not authorised to make such a statement on behalf of the party and her comments don’t depict the party’s views on the farm bills. The party has also disapproved the statement.

The actor, who was in the news last week when her movie ‘Emergency’ was denied censor’s certification after a releasing date was fixed, said in the video: “I know this will be controversial… but I feel the farms laws that were repealed should be brought back. The farmers themselves should demand it. They are a pillar of strength for the nation’s development and I want to appeal to them – demand the laws back for your own good.”

Reacting to the controversy and the statement, BJP leader Gaurav Bhatia: “On the social media platforms, BJP MP Kangana Ranaut’s statement on the farm bills that was withdrawn by central govt, is going viral. I want to make it clear that this statement is a personal statement of her. Kangana Ranaut is not authorised to make such a statement on behalf of BJP and it doesn’t depict BJP’s view on the farm bills. We disapprove of this statement.”

After BJP statement came, Kangana Ranaut has also reacted to the development and said: “Absolutely, my views on Farmers Laws are personal and they don’t represent party’s stand on those Bills. Thanks.”

Earlier, Congress slammed BJP for Kangana Ranaut’s comments and said the laws will never return even if Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his MPs try their best to bring them back.

“BJP MP Kangana Ranaut is saying the three black laws that were imposed on the farmers, should be restored. The Modi government woke up only after the martyrdom of more than 750 farmers and withdrew the laws. Now, BJP MPs want to bring back these laws. The Congress stands with farmers and these black laws will never return, even if Narendra Modi and his MPs try their best,” Congress wrote on X.

Kangana Ranaut’s comments and its repercussions are crucial for BJP as it is trying hard to retain the power in Haryana in the upcoming assembly elections. Farmer issues are significant in the Haryana election campaign.
