Darshan Thogudeepa is a Kannada actor. He was recently arrested for his involvement in the brutal murder of Renuka Swamy, a movie fan. Reportedly, Darshan has been at the wrong side of the law several times.

Darshan Thogudeepa, the Kannada star popularly known as “Challenging Star”, has been in the headlines for a while now. The actor was arrested in connection with a murder case in Mysore. He and alleged girlfriend, Pavithra Gowda has been arrested in connection with the murder of a man named Renuka Swamy, who allegedly sent obscene messages to Pavithra, who is also an actress. Reportedly, the 33-year-old Renuka Swamy was  abducted, tortured, and murdered by the actor. The certain horrific developments in the case have also shocked the sandalwood community.

Now, a Kannadiga journalist came forward, listing out the instances when Darshan Thogudeepa was at the wrong side of the law. Taking to X (formerly twitter), Karthik KK pointed that Darshan owns a long list of controversies that repeatedly thrust him and his close associates into the spotlight.

According to the journalist, in 2018, the star’s luxury Audi Q7 (KA-51-Z-7999) crashed into a divider on Mysuru’s outskirts. The incident was said to take place at 24/09.2018, 3:00 am. Onlookers claimed the actor was at the wheel. However, later, his friend Roy Anthony took up the blame.

“Suspiciously, the SUV was towed to Bengaluru before the police arrived, sparking public curiosity”, said the journalist.

He said the vehicle was gone by the time the police has arrived, and nothing much happened in the case.

In 2021, “Darshan allegedly assaulted a Mysuru hotel staff over a food delay. An audio clip revealed the actor scolding, throwing money, and hitting the staff. While filmmaker Indrajit Lankesh and a city advocate filed a complaint with police to take action, the case was compromised. As per media report, Darshan paid Rs 50,000 to settle the case and avoid legal consequences.

In January 2023, Darshan was accused of keeping four bar-headed geese in his farmhouse in Mysuru, violating wildlife protection laws. Reportedly, Forest officials raided his farmhouse and rescued the birds.

Karthik said that the actor was also involved in tiger claw cases. During a raid, suspicions arose that celebrities, including Darshan, replaced illegal tiger claw jewelry with fakes to dodge legal consequences.

Another instance shared was Darshan’s habit of partying late past the deadlines. “Darshan frequently partied past closing time in Mysuru’s Hebbal area. His friend’s resto bar was a favorite spot for these late-night gatherings, often filled with chaos, heated arguments, and foul language. One unreported video showed the actor cussing customers, showcasing the often unruly nature of these events”.

Reportedly, Darshan and seven others were questioned by Subramanyanagar police for allegedly partying beyond the allowed hours at a bar on January 4 this year. They were accused of violating regulations regarding late-night gatherings and alcohol consumption. Darshan and others clarified they gathered for a dinner to celebrate the success of Darshan’s movie ‘Kaatera’.

Apart from these, the star was also accused of domestic violence. In September 2009, Darshan’s wife, Vijaya Lakshmi, accused him of assault, leading to a case of domestic violence and attempted murder against him. Darshan was remanded in judicial custody but later released on bail. The case was later withdrawn, as the couple reconciled.

He was also accused of letting loose his dogs on a staff member through his friends. Police investigations claimed Darshan was not directly involved in the incident.
