Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, the popularly known ‘Challenging Star’ has been arrested in connection with a murder in Mysore. Following this, the police also arrested his wife actress Pavithra Gowda.

As per the report of Deccan Herald, he has been arrested in connection with the murder of a man named Renukaswamy, who allegedly sent obscene messages to Kannada actress Pavithra Gowda. The actor was arrested by Vijayanagar ACP Chandan today at 8.30 am in Mysore, where Darshan was at Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel for a film shooting. A total of 10 people have been arrested so far.

The deceased, Renukaswamy, was 33 years old. He worked at a medical shop and hailed from Chitradurga. Though initial reports suggested that Renuka had died by suicide, the investigations revealed he was murdered. Speaking to the media, B Dayananda, Bengaluru City Commissioner, said, “The murder took place on June 9. An actor is taken into custody. Action will be taken after the inquiry.”

Based on media reports, it is alleged that on June 8, Darshan’s bouncers killed Renukaswamy in his presence and disposed of the body in Kamakshi Palya, where he resides. When the body was discovered on June 9, it was being consumed by dogs. There were injury marks on the head and other body parts.  A security guard from a nearby apartment noticed and alerted the authorities. The weapons used for the murder was found in the garage of Darshan’s residence.

Law enforcement swiftly responded and established a connection through his Call Detail Records (CDR). They also accessed his social media accounts, where it was revealed that he had sent obscene messages to Pavithra Gowda. Darshan has been brought to Kamakshipalya where the complaint has been filed. Following his arrest, Dharshan’s wife Pavithra Gowda was also arrested by the Banglore police based on a complaint raised by Swamy’s mother.
