A police case was filed against the constable and was suspended following the incident on Thursday. Referring to the farmers protest in 2020, Kaur said: “She gave a statement… that farmers are sitting there for Rs 100. Will she go and sit there? My mother was sitting there and protesting when she gave this statement…”
Kangana Ranaut’s controversial remark on the farmers’ protest has earlier resulted in public outrage. She has posted on social media that the elderly woman at the protest site was paid Rs 100. However, following the public backlash, the actress deleted the post.
Expressing her outrage at the incident, Kangana called it as a sign of “terrorism rising in Punjab” on social media. “The woman guard waited for me to cross security check-in. She then hit me and started using expletives. When I asked why she hit me, she said, ‘I support farmers.’ I am safe, but my concern is terrorism is rising in Punjab. How do we handle that?,” she said.

In Feb 2021, responding to the post of singer Rihanna on farmers’ protest which said, “Why aren’t we talking about this?”, Ms. Ranaut lashed out at the pop singer and referred the farmers as ‘terrorists’. Her inflammatory response was later deleted.
