As Kerala witnesses incessant downpours, causing fatalities and public disruptions for the past few days, Congress general secretory Priyanka Gandhi today conveyed her condolence to the loved ones of those who died during the heavy rain.
Priyanka Gandhi, who is all set to make her electoral debut from Kerala’s Wayanad to Lok Sabha, further urged Congress workers and leaders o do all they can to provide assistance and relief to the people adversely affected by the rain.
At least four rain-related deaths were reported on Wednesday, including a 30-year-old man who sustained serious injuries after a tree fell on him near Mattancherry bridge in Alappuzha on the day, on Tuesday, eight people lost their in different districts, and one person is missing. Sulochana (54) and her son Ranjith (31) died in Palakkad’s Wadakkancherry when a wall in their house collapsed over them.

“My heartfelt condolences to those who have lost loved ones due to the excessive rains in Kerala. I hope everyone in the areas where the red alert has been issued is taking all precautions and staying safe. I urge Congress Party workers and leaders to do all they can to provide assistance and relief to those affected,” the Congress leader wrote on X.

Heavy rain along with strong winds has continued to lash several parts of the state, adding casualties further.
The by-poll in the Wayanad constituency was necessitated by Rahul Gandhi’s decision to retain Rae Bareilly after winning from both the seats in the 2024 general elections. Amid speculations over the candidate names for former Rahul Gandhi’s seat, the Congress Priyanka Gandhi’ name was finalised last month.

Priyanka’s entry into southern politics, especially in Kerala is reported to have a positive impact on the grand old party in the state.
