Kolkata, West Bengal: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday, January 8, raided IPAC offices across Kolkata, including West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s political consultancy, as part of a money laundering probe. 

Following the swift raids on poll strategist firms, the chief minister accused the central agency of stealing Trinamool Congress (TMC) party documents. Calling Home Minister Amit Shah a document chori, the chief minister said that the ED raid was aimed at accessing her party’s internal political materials.

“It is most unfortunate that the ED came to our office to collect candidate lists, party strategy, plans and confidential documents,” Mamata Banerjee said. The ED carried out searches at two locations including the residence of Pratik Jain, a senior I-PAC functionary in central Kolkata, and the firm’s office at the Godrej Waterside building in Sector V, Salt Lake.

The police force surrounded the wholle IPAC office amid the ongoing raids. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was also present outside the office. “Is it the duty of the ED, Amit Shah to collect the party’s hard disk, candidate list,” Banerjee said.

TMC MP Saket Gokhale said that the Modi-Shah’s filthy tactics in Bengal reached a new level. “This morning, they’re using their lapdog agency ED to steal documents with details of our potential candidates, our election strategy, and our campaign plans. If the Gujarat Gymkhana duo think they can use agencies to fight @MamataOfficial @abhishekaitc, they’re VERY MISTAKEN. NOW begins the countdown of Modi-Shah’s fall. You started this & now we will finish it,” the PM wrote on X.
