A young man recently landed in legal trouble in Punjab for attempting to impersonate a woman while writing an exam. India Today reported that the incident took place on January 7, when the accused was appearing for the exam of multi-purpose health workers held by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences.

According to the India Today report, the exam was held at DAV Public School in Kotkapura. The university administration caught the accused, identified as Angrez Singh, with the help of biometric devices. The report also said that the accused forged a fake identity with counterfeit Aadhar and voter cards. Suspecting the possibility of involvement in a larger network, the university administration has filed a complaint with the police on this matter. As per the report, the accused was adorned with red bangles, a bindi, and lipstick. The vice chancellor of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences told India Today TV that the accused was appearing for the exam on behalf of a girl, identified as Paramjit Kaur.

The officials reportedly became suspicious when the fingerprints of the accused did not match Paramjit Kaur”s on the biometric scanner. Angrez Singh was immediately taken into custody by the police. Notably, the real candidate”s form has also been rejected by the university administration. “We received a complaint from Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, and we are currently investigating the matter,” said Faroidkot SP Jasmeet Singh, as quoted by India Today. Faroidkot SP also added that appropriate action will be taken after completing the inquiry.
