Manohar Lal Khattar’s Newphews Pradeep Khattar, Gururaj Khattar Join Congress: Report

Edited by Fazal Rahman Chembulangad

Former Haryana Chief Minister and BJP leader Manohar Lal Khattar’s two nephews joined the Congress party, according to reports. The nephews who switched sides are Pradeep Khattar and Gururaj Khattar, The Tribune reported. Both Pradeep Khattar and Gururaj Khattar cited the lack of respect for party members in the BJP. They believe the Congress will respect its workers at least, the media house added.

The move was reportedly orchestrated by the Congress Sirsa candidate and former Union Minister Kumari Selja. It is learnt that the developments could be a blow to the saffron party’s election prospects.

However, reacting to the development, BJP spokesperson Jawahar Yadav issued a clarification claiming that the turncoats were not related to the former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. He said that the news was false, adding that legal action would be initiated against those spreading misinformation. Notably, the two nephews’ uncle, a lawyer and BJP member did not make any comment on the Khattar Brothers’ decision to switch the party.

While the BJP leader denied having a family for long, the Khattar family from Sirsa have been persistent in their claims that they are his relatives since he became the chief minister. One of the turncoats, Gururaj Khattar accused the former chief minister of neglecting his family during the past ten years, the Tribune reported.

Notably, Gururaj Khattar has announced plans for a press conference to reveal facts about Manohar Lal Khattar. He alleged that the former Chief Minister no longer considers his family.  ‘Manohar Lal Khattar might disown others like he did with his ‘bhanja’ Ashok Tanwar once he leaves the BJP,‘ Gururaj Khattar said.
