RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav”s “family” jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi is placing new mass public campaign for BJP ahead of the Lok Sabha election.
As RJD president Lalu Prasad Yadav”s jibe on PM Modi”s family stirred controversy, BJP leaders added “Modi Ka Parivar” (Modi’s family) to their social media profiles extending solidarity with the Prime Minister. Since it started with the top leaders as quick response, it has carried forward by nearly all BJP leaders, and now stretching it more to BJP workers.
“This will become a mass movement. People from all walks of life could associate with the new phrase ‘Modi Ka Parivaar’ and this could be another emotive connect of the PM with common people,” a senior BJP leader told News18.
Another senior BJP leader perceives that common people will take up this campaign bigger and they would closely connect with Prime Minister Modi who recently called them “parivaar-jan” (family members).
The 2014 general elections campaigns were propelled by Congress leaders Mani Shankar Aiyar”s “chaiwala” barb at PM Modi. Aiyar”s remark helped BJP a great deal and boosting Narendra Modi“s mileage as a prime ministerial candidate in then election. The party pitched his humble background and postulated that the Prime Ministerial choice be a commoner instead opting for the Gandhi family and dynasty politics.
Similarly, in 2019, ahead of Lok Sabha polls, the then Congress President Rahul Gandhi attacked the PM Modi-led NDA-I government by launching “Chowkidaar Chor Hai” slogan. BJP, in turn, masterfully curated the Rahul Gandhi”s slogan in their favour as “Main Bhi Chowkidaar” and all the BJP top leaders and the candidates added it in their social media handles along with their names. The party aggressively pushed the slogan, which destroyed all the sharp attacks Congress placed thereafter.
This time, it seems, “Modi Ka Parivar” likely to witness the beginning of a mass campaign by the BJP leadership targeting 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
